What it does

You can get a working page from an AI tool in minutes. Whether you should put it in front of customers is a design question, and this is a written way to answer it. It asks one question over the whole page, "Would you deliver this to a client as it stands?", then six checks, each graded from 1 to 5 with written anchors at 1, 3 and 5: hierarchy, layout and spacing, typography, colour and contrast, fit to the brief, and finish. Thirteen rules cover the cases that cause arguments, such as stand-in pictures and a page that runs off the side of a phone screen.

The repo holds the rubric, six frozen prompts (a coffee subscription page, an invoicing dashboard, a boot product page, a pricing page, an illustrator portfolio and a restoration article) and 24 outputs from five AI tools, each graded on all seven rows with the measured facts beside it: fonts in use, lowest text contrast, overflow at phone width and defect flags. There are no tool averages and no ranking.

The grades are an AI judge's. Rish Sadh reviewed 11 of the 24 and agreed with all of them. The other 13 are not reviewed. An AI agent ran the tools in his own logged-in browser, and some of those tools' terms forbid automated access. Six of the 30 planned slots are empty, and the README says why.

Why it exists

On 27 October 2026 the rubric was frozen at version 0.2.0, with the prompts and both SHA-256 hashes published, so anyone can check they did not change. The studio sells design and AI-search work, so it is fair to say what this is: a free reference, with nothing sold behind it.

It is a check you can run yourself on an AI-built site before it ships. It does not say which tool is best, and it does not measure whether a page converts or ranks. If you grade the same prompts and disagree with a grade, Rish wants to see where. His own page is at rishsadh.com/open-source/generated-ui-rubric. Cite the rubric by its DOI, 10.5281/zenodo.23689021.
